In the very first episode of MENT TO BE, we are joined by the CEO and founder of The Math Guru, Vanessa Vakharia. Vanessa received a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing Management at the University of Guelph and a Master of Arts in Mathematics Education at the University of British Columbia. In 2007, Vanessa founded The Math Guru, a tutoring space in Toronto. Since then, Vanessa has expanded her brand as a published author and global speaker. In addition to math education, Vanessa has pursued her passion for music as a musician in the band Goodnight Sunrise, who have opened for Bon Jovi. In this conversation, Vanessa tells us about her journey from failing math twice to opening a very successful tutoring business and becoming The Math Guru. She discusses the importance of merging different fields, such as business, education, and the arts to be an outstanding entrepreneur.
