Super Bowl 59 Podcast Notes Eagles vs Chiefs (-1) 48.5 How the Eagles got here - In the two year since the last match in SB 57 the Eagles have been on a roller coaster - Last season after starting the season 10-1, the Eagles go on to lose 6 of their last 7 games concluding with a lost in the WC round 32-9 to Tampa - Nick entered the season on the hot seat because of how that season ended - During the offseason the Eagles acquired 3x Pro Bowler, former Off rookie of the year all pro Saquon Barkely - Eagles went into their week 5 bye at 2-2- Nick still on the hot seat, Eagles fans not happy with him - Eagles go on to win their next 12 out the last 13 games of the season earning the #2 seed in the NFC - Eagles go through the plays beating a young Packers team, surviving the elements and a fiesty Rams team, and destorying their division rivals Commanders in the NFC championship game - And lastly Saqon was on pace to break the coveted single season rushing record, and sat him week 18 to get him rested for this deep playoff run - Questions about Jalen Hurts effectiveness - AJ Brown being moody and pouting on the sidelines - Early questions about the center position after Jason Kelce’s retirement - Questions about the secondary with starting two rookies at corner - All of it ended up not mattering because the Eagles are once again in the Super Bowl How the Chiefs got here - This is the Chiefs 5th super bowl in the Patrick Mahomes era - 19 beat the 49ers 31-20 scoring 21 unanswered points in the 4th - 20 lost 31-9 to the Tom Brady led Tampa Bay Bucs, Mahomes threw two picks and was under pressure the entire game - 22 beat the Eagles 38-35, Hurts was the star of this game with 4 total TDs and over 350 yards of total offense - 23 beat the 49ers 25-22 in OT, 49ers kicked FG in OT, Chiefs scored a TD on their drive and won the game - Chiefs started out this season 9-0 before losing week 11 @Buffalo - Chiefs kept winning until week 18 when they rested their starters - KC had home field throughout the playoffs taking out Houston and Buffalo in the AFC champ game 32-29 - KC is looking to become the only team in NFL history to 3-peat as super bowl champions Game Preview - More context, these two teams meet last season before the Eagles collapsed - Eagles won that game 21-17 - KC out gained them, had more first downs, coveted more first downs and led TOP - KC also did nothing in the 2nd half getting shutout and giving up 14 points - I think this ends up being a low scoring game - II bet the over as soon as it came out, but have changed the mind after looking at some of the defensive numbers - We know the Eagles are going to want o run the ball at the Chiefs - We know the Chiefs have no downfield threats so the are going to try and dink and dunk down the field - The Eagles have a nasty defensive play makers at every level - KC has good defensive as well with one of the best DC of all time - I think the Eagles have a chance to win this game if they get the run game going and get pressure on Mahomes with 4 guys
