Sir Edward Elgar was born on June 2, 1857. The composer of the Enigma Variations, the Pomp and Circumstance Marches, and The Dream of Gerontius was the son of an organist, and made his first appearances as a musician at the console of the organ. In this episode we hear his most famous organ work, the Sonata in G, as well as an anthem and some transcriptions.
