It's been a while since we've directly had an episode about joy. Not since the first episode, where I went over 7 techniques for cultivating joy in our lives, so I thought it was about time that I directly addressed it again, and let's have some fun today! I'm going to list a few more ways to grow the joy in your life. Number one is play! Play is so important. Cultivating joy, and growing joy, and just simmering in a pot full of joy. Go to a park, roll down a hill. Go on a swingset, be spontaneous, dance in a parking lot. Dance anywhere! Sing at the top of your lungs. Have FUN! If you feel the feeling of “I really want to start dancing right now” - DANCE. Don’t talk yourself out of it. Just follow that joyful- you know, middle of a grocery store and a song comes on and you're like “I am feeling IT” - just dance! Let yourself enjoy life! It’s so much fun to be alive. Let the music flow through your body, let the joy flow through your body. Jump into a body of water, splash around. Lay in the sun and stare at the clouds and make up stories. Go out to dinner with a friend and speak only in different personas. Do whatever, just be silly! It's so worth it. It's so much fun to just allow yourself to experience this Joy. So, joy through play is definitely, definitely amazing. Being goofy and silly, and just enjoying your life. Number two, I've mentioned this before but it's super helpful. So, list what you're grateful for and about, and write it down. And in the mornings you can do, you know, wake up, smile, immediately to three things you are grateful for. Before you go to sleep, smile, and list three things you are grateful for. What was the most joyful part of your day, or what is going to be the most joyful part of your day? Or, just leave yourself open in the mornings and be like “Universe, let’s make today as magical as possible. I'm so happy, and excited, and grateful for everything in my life. Thank you in advance for all the fun and joy and magic. #3 is do something you've never done before. Go in with zero expectations. Just the knowledge that you will have fun exploring and learning something new, having a new experience, creating space for new things, and new energies and just ...newness to come into your life. You know, if we repeat the same patterns and activities day in and day out, we are entrenching ourselves in that pattern, so if you do something new, something unknown, unexpected, you open yourself to New Opportunities and experiences. And it's beautiful and fun and fantastic. #4 is shift perspectives. Now, what do I mean by this? I say it in my intro all the time. What I mean by this is instead of getting frustrated or complaining about a situation, look for the good in it. Look for how you can enjoy, it or how you can become at peace with it. So, let's say you're stuck in traffic, it's going to take you twice as long to get somewhere as you thought, which happened to me the other day, so instead of getting frustrated I decided to enjoy my time in the car. Put on music, became present, got to observe my surroundings, and noticed how beautiful the trees were. So even though the traffic wasn't moving, it didn't matter cuz I was just happy where I was, and then it started moving again. Getting frustrated that it's not moving is not going to make it move faster. Accepting the moment as it is, and appreciating it for what it is, is going to help you so much. It's going to transform your life, your mind, your heart, and allow so much more joy and wonderful experiences in. When you hold and resonate at the frequency of joy for long enough, anything not in alignment with that joy vibrates out.
