Listen "Performing Under Pressure"
Episode Synopsis
In this week's episode I am joined by Katy Rosewood who is a Sport & Exercise Psychologist in training.Katy is a qualified Personal Trainer and also a qualified Nurse with 25 years of experience in the NHS.Katy has always been involved in sport and exercise, mainly due to having parents who were good role models. Today we talk mainly about Sport Psychology and how this transfers to other areas of work where people need to perform under pressure. We discuss the importance of 'mental toughness' and what that looks like. Before you ask, mental toughness is not the absence of negative feelings, it's being able to experience those feelings and still being able to perform. So many people think that the definition of 'strong' is not feeling any fear, anxiety or doubt and being able to keep soldiering on in challenging environments, and in my experience it's this perspective that burns people out, because we are human and we will experience negative emotions - That doesn't mean that we are weak! We also discuss resilience and what that looks like in sport and in challenging careers like the Police and NHS.If you want to know more about what Katy does then please please follow her on her Socials:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/katy-r-640732211/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/the_mindsetinmotion_psych_/
