Listen "#VOTING WHILE FEMALE (full)"
Episode Synopsis
This week on THE JANUS ADAMS SHOW, #Voting While Female: Live from the Susan B. Anthony House in Rochester, New York. Here, where history happened, November 18, 1872: Susan B. Anthony was arrested in the front parlor of her home. Indicted in Albany, she was tried and found guilty. Her crime: voting as a woman. She did not deny what she had done. Indeed, her criminality had even been covered in The New York Times twelve days earlier:
“Miss Susan B. Anthony has had the honor of leading to the polls the advanced guard of the leading squadron of female voters. The little band of nine ladies whose ballots were received by the election inspectors at Rochester deserve a permanent place in history.”
