Part II our sixth episode, Dee and Kathleen speak to Nokulinda Mkhize, a fellow mother of four and Sangoma. This was such a rich session that we needed to break the episode into two parts! In the first part we speak about the role of the broader community in raising a child and raising a mother, the huge transformations in becoming a mother and the absolute necessity for structural postpartum support. We touch on the invisible work of mothering, postpartum depression, placenta encapsulation and homiematrimony, a term coined by Nokulinda and her husband, Tim. In the second part, we touch on acts of service, race and children and nutrition.
