Emotional eating is a phenomenon that nearly every person has experienced at some point in their life. Be it that one time in high school after a bad break up, or if it is something your client turns too often, this is an type of food emotionality that is foreign to few. When we discuss emotional eating it is important to note that we are not focused on the eating itself nor the foods being consumed, but rather the emotional experience that is happening during it. In today's episode Emma discusses emotional eating and teaches you the tools and steps needed to address and heal your client's struggle with emotional eating. Episode Overview (The Steps) 1. Understand (as the coach) what emotional eating is about. The feeling not the food. 2. Help your client identify the root emotions and feelings causing their emotional eating. This includes the emotions they feel that lead them to emotionally eat AND the result they are hoping the eating will help them to achieve. 3. Fix the feeling & find alternative healing methods not related to food. 4. Address the difference between emotional eating urges and hunger cues. 5. Promote intentional eating in order to keep the reasons for eating positive always.
