This is the First Sunday of Lent, which is February 18th, 2024. During the season of Lent our theme for worship and other community events is Practices and Promises.  This theme helps us explore the covenants, or promises, that God makes throughout scripture with humanity and all of Creation.  Each week we will focus on a different covenant and an accompanying spiritual practice that brings the truth of God’s promises into our everyday lives. 
This week the Good Word comes from Genesis 9:8-17.  This Good Word is the end of the story of Noah and the Flood, where God promises never to destroy the world again and sets the rainbow in the sky as a reminder to God and to us that God will never abandon us, no matter how bad it gets.
