This week is the first Sunday of Christmas, which is December 31st, 2023 and the Good Word comes from Luke 2: 22-40. One of the few stories of Jesus’ early days as a child, this story emphasizes his family’s faithfulness in observing the Jewish law.  We hear about Simion and Anna, prophets in the Temple and their first impressions of this child as one who has come to fulfil the prophecies of old and change the world.  Imagine how his parents must have felt, hearing this about their young child and contemplating a future they could never have imagined.
