God warned the children of Israel to stay vigilant, to not become complacent, to guard their hearts against the influences of the world they were entering.  God wanted them to continue to live victoriously. “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do.” (Joshua 1:7)  Fifteen hundred years later, the Apostle Paul admonishes us to, “Fight the good fight of the faith [in the conflict with evil]; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called, and [for which] you made the good confession [of faith] in the presence of many witnesses.” 1 Timothy 6:12 AMP
