Episode Synopsis

The Framestore Podcast, our learning and talent development focused podcast made by Framestore, for Framestore, is back with another fantastic new episode.

Every two weeks on Mondays, we welcome a special guest to the pod to answer questions about their inspirations, work at our studio, and career journey via the Framestore Podcast 'dailies' questions. Then, the following Thursday, we invite a guest 'co-host' from our global community to take over, engaging our guest in a deeper dive conversation for a valuable learning experience.

Our special guest this week is Lara Hopkins, Head of Studio for Framestore Melbourne. With a diverse and successful career in the VFX industry, Lara started out as a Producer's Assistant at Anifex in 1992, and later held key roles at Extro Design and Animal Logic. Lara spent significant terms at Framestore, first as CG Manager and later in recruitment and studio management. In 2009, she played a crucial role in crewing up for Happy Feet 2 at Dr. D Studios, returning to Framestore in 2012, serving as the New York's Head of Recruitment and later as a Global Recruitment Consultant. 4 years at ILM, Sydney, followed where Lara rose to the position of Director of Talent Management, then rejoining Framestore to lead our Melbourne Studio in October last year.

Our co-host for this conversation is Kathleen Ruffalo, Recruitment Manager, Framestore USA. Kathleen began her career in the entertainment industry in 2010 working as a Production Assistant on a string of reality TV series including Hell's Kitchen, Big Brother, and Dancing with the Stars, before making the shift to scripted television which included working as an Office PA on the final season of the long-running series House. In the Summer of 2012 Kathleen joined Framestore helping to launch our Los Angeles studio, where she ascended from Production, to Crew Management, to Recruitment Manager where she’s been since late 2019.

This is such a great episode! Enjoy...
