What happens when you give your life for your country?  Awards, medals, recognition?  Not quite.  It's more like when management messes everything up and then blames the underlings to save face.  When an officer sends a squad to their death, it's easier to blame the squad, and that's exactly what appears to be happening to Michelle's husband, Bryan.  This may have shocked you decades ago, but at this point you're probably just thinking "sounds like the government alright", which is very sad.
