Mark's gospel originally ended with the promise that Jesus had risen, but it lacked the various ways he appeared to his followers. Mark's audience was frustrated by the lack of proof he provided. In the same way, people today feel they need more evidence in order to believe in Jesus, and we are called to provide it.
