Listen "Malcolm Borwick - on being the world's best polo player and Royal Salute"
Episode Synopsis
Welcome to Esquire Q+A - an entirely re-branded podcast from us here at Esquire Middle East.
Each week we’re going to be sitting down with an expert in the field of technology, gaming, fashion, lifestyle, watches, art, design, culture and more, to find out what makes them tick – and to ask them relevant questions about the industry that they are in.
It should be informative – and entertaining – and aims to leave you listeners a little bit more clued up with what’s going on in the world.
First up is a very special guest. Malcom Borman is widely regarded as one of the best players in the world right now when it comes to the sport of kings.
The man is based in Miami, but spends most of his time travelling the polo capitals of the world in Latin America, Europe and the Middle East. He was in town this week for the Royal Salute Nation’s Cup, an annual event that sees international teams compete at the Al Habtoor Polo Resort and Club.
Before he jumped onto his polo pony and set off, we managed to convince Borman to head down to the Esquire Q+A studio so we could grill him on all things polo related.
How much of the sport comes down to the horse versus the rider?
What are the rules of polo?
Why does Borwick think certain rules absolutely need to change?
And what makes polo so entertaining to watch?

Enjoy.
