In today’s episode, Nkechi has a discussion with Deanna Burger, co-founder and CEO at commUNITY. She co-founded commUNITY in April 2020 in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, producing Canadian made masks with materials and labor locally sourced. A portion of sales is donated to food banks as a give back to the community. Before founding commUNITY, Deanna had over 20 years of experience as a Marketing executive across several organizations. While being an executive, she also doubled as an Instructor at George Brown College. In today’s episode, Deanna shares her entrepreneurship journey which was primarily founded to help disadvantaged members of the community. She also shared that the covid-19 pandemic has been a blessing in disguise as she unlocked many capabilities that she did not know existed within her.
