Episode Synopsis
Interview with Hadassah Lieberman on her new book, Hadassah: An American StoryThe book opens with Hadassah writing in memory of her grandparents and other relatives who perished in the Holocaust. In her first two chapters, she writes about her parents surviving the Nazi camps; Her father from a Labor camp and her mother from Auschwitz. Hadassah then takes us to her coming to America as a little girl, and the story of an immigrant who fell in love with this country and everything America has to offer. Hadassah truly exemplifies “The American Dream.” Throughout the rest of the book, she talks about achieving her own goals through hard work and education, getting married and divorced, her being introduced to Joe Lieberman, the bonds of family, politics, and concludes with how a Jewish girl from Europe came to America, made it, and saw her achievements as the middle finger to Hitler. When you finish reading her book, you will understand why Joe Lieberman is always smiling. Hadassah is a true Aishes Chayil, a woman of valor, and while she calls this book, her Memoir, it should be called a book about values, gratitude, faith, family, selflessness, and loyalty.“My favorite line from the book: You mention your good friend Edie who wanted to introduce you to Joe, and here is what her sales pitch was; “He’s a politician, but seems like a good guy.””
