Listen "Silence in a Year Day 86 He Must Increase and I Must Decrease"

Episode Synopsis

In this paragraph Cardinal Sarah quotes St. Augustine “All voice must decrease in the measure that one advances in the knowledge of Christ.” And the scripture passage from John 3:30 immediately came to mind: “He must increase, but I must decrease.” Said by St. John the Baptist. This does not mean that we as a person lose our value to God and that we lose our identity. It is the opposite. As we put God at the center of our whole being, our value increases because if we are one with God, we will increase with him. However, we do not want to think that anyone or anything is more important than us.We allow the voice in our head to tell us that there is nothing better than us. That is the voice of the evil one, the voice in our head that does not reach our heart which is where God waits for us.This takes me back to the litany of HUMILITY. The part that says “that others may become holier than I, provided that I may become as holy as I should”.The voice of God should the loudest voice that we hear. The voice of despair, criticism, anger can be drowned out by God’s voice.Remembering and accepting God’s voice as he tells me “Alicia you are my beloved child”.Take away: What voice are you allowing to speak to your heart? Is it God’s voice? If not, why?
