What I hear Cardinal Sarah tell me on this day is that if I want to pray, I must withdraw to a remote place wo that I can be alone with the ALONE. Of course he is talking about God..in the silence of my heart. He talks about this will bring us peace and joy however our self-centeredness prevents us from this. Asceticism means severe self-indulgence and avoidance of all forms of self-indulgence, which is not bad in of itself, however, we as humans tend to go overboard, and we do not always practice moderation well. Removing temptations from our daily life may be the only option we have when tempted with self-indulgence. We are tempted because we do not see self-indulgence binge watching tv when we can be doing chores, or social media when we should be working. Those may be the worst kinds of indulgences that take over our lives. These types of indulgences keep us from strengthening our relationship with God in the silence of our hearts.Take Away: Are there things in your life that you over indulge in, if so, ask God to enter into your heart and help you get rid of those things.
