Listen "Silence in a Year Day 60 A Grand Reception"

Episode Synopsis

Rituals were created for us to grow closer to God, but often we allow them to become routine rather than intentional.  Cardinal Sarah talks about the “ritual” in Jerusalem on Palm Sunday. Everyone was so excited but at the end of the day, yet Jesus was not offered a place to sleep in the city. Cardinal Sarah goes further by saying that Jerusalem did not understand the profound significance of the visit. It brought to mind the “rituals” that we are part of during the sacraments and I think do we know why we do what we do or are we just participating with the crowd like that Palm Sunday when everyone was so excited and yet did not understand. What significant rituals do you find most confusing?I hear people talk about why we sit, stand, and kneel during mass. They each have a purpose and the posture required to show reverence for the particular part of the mass.I ask myself, am I loyal to Jesus even when there is so much commotion and activity in my life?Take away: Do you know why you do what you do? If not, there are resources to answer your questions. Why do we do what we do? Is it just a process or are we getting something out of what we do?
