Listen "Silence in a Year - Day 31 - Great Turmoil"
Episode Synopsis
Cardinal Sarah strikes hard at a critical point in the church today - the desire to change the Truth as found in Jesus Christ and handed down through the Magisterium of the Church. This is creating great turmoil on a variety of different fronts. As I reflected on this, this great turmoil likely starts in the heart of each person and is then fed by the noise of the world that seeks to inflame these agendas that are contrary to the One Truth. Before I really had a relationship with God, my understanding of right and wrong was certainly jaded. My conscience had not been fully formed. Since converting to Catholicism, the forming of my conscience has been a slow and gradual process which I have increasingly participated in over the course of the last 28 years. Gradually the light of Christ continues to illuminate areas in my life that were previously darkened. It would be easy to turn away from this process and back to the relativism of the world but there comes a point where this is not an option. This is the case for me. It does not mean there are not struggles, but it does mean there is no going back. I would also emphasize that in our vigor to exercise and bring others to the truth, we must proceed with a pastoral understanding - even more so, an understanding that even for us it is a long journey and a process. One that is only found in spending quality time with Jesus Himself in silence.
