Listen "Alea Lacta Est"
Episode Synopsis
In 49bce, Julius Cæsar stood on the bank of a river in northern Italy and contemplated – at least for a moment – the decision he was about to make.
His next act would change the world, pretty much forever. And while there is a great deal of opinion regarding Cæsar, the simple fact is that his action destroyed the greatest experiment in republicanism the world had ever seen. Within a few months, he would both destroy a republic and establish the foundation for the Roman Empire. And despite facing his own insurrection, he ultimately succeeded in his aim. Like then, today we face Rubicon’s to be crossed.
And die to be cast…
