Episode Synopsis

Girl Scouts has been changing girls' lives for over 110 years! Girl members report feeling more confident, having increased critical thinking, and seeking more challenges, but how do we know this? In this episode, we talk with GSUSA's Data and Analytics team manager Kallen Tsikalas about what it's like to create surveys and tell the stories in the data. Then, we'll hear about how this data shows Girl Scout's impacts for members and beyond.

There are so many ways to get involved with GSUSA's Data and Analytics team!

GSUSA conducts regular research with members. Every year, they do a big survey called Girl Scout Voices Count (GSVC). All Girl Scouts, parents and caregivers, and volunteers are invited to take that survey.
At the end of the GSVC surveys, folks are asked if they’d like to participate in additional research – like other surveys, focus groups, or reviews of new program materials. If an individual responds ‘Yes’ to this question, GSUSA puts them in a pool of possible research candidates. They pick people from this pool for lots of other research opportunities.
GSUSA generally hires college and graduate student interns to help on various projects, including research projects. These internship opportunities are listed on the GSUSA website (https://careers-girlscouts.icims.com/jobs/search?ss=1&hashed=-435683782)
