Today’s guest on the Conveners is a personal friend of mine and someone who has been involved with GM for some years before moving back to his original roots up in North Ayrshire in Scotland. The one and only Malcolm Mcphail.
Today we can hear how the Council are taking a whole systems approach in a really pragmatic way to bring partners together across North Ayrshire to really push forward the integration of physical activity with health and social care. Interestingly, the backdrop in Scotland as highlighted in the excellent report by Community Leisure UK, is incredibly challenging and I think it’s fair to say Malcolm and the work that he and his team and stakeholders are doing is providing some hope and I would say ‘a blueprint’ for others to learn from and replicate.
In fact, more than that, the fact that this is being done by the leisure operator with Malcolm leading this approach on behalf of the Council is really fascinating in itself.
I would suggest we can learn from that approach, so as ever Malcolm gives us plenty to think about in a very inspirational, pragmatic way so I urge you to give this serious consideration when listening, thank you.
