Listen "012: David Richman | Inspiring Deeper Human Connections through Cancer"
Episode Synopsis
In today’s episode, I speak to David Richman. David is an entrepreneur, author, public speaker, athlete, and philanthropist, who uses the lessons learned in his life to enrich and inspire.David started to form the idea of his latest book, Cycle of Lives, after his sister died from brain cancer. After many years of dedication to raising awareness and funds for cancer research and care, he noticed that people were open to sharing the tasks related to the cancer experience, but very few discussions dealt with the emotions of cancer, whether that be of the patient, a loved one, survivor or caregiver. David then embarked on a journey to find 15 compelling human stories to explore the traumas and events in their lives that shaped the way they dealt with the emotions of cancer. After interviewing the participants for more than 2 years, David wrote the book to share their stories with the hope of helping start conversations about the emotional aspects of trauma and the cancer experience. We talk about his conversations with his sister during her difficult journey, what all the participants had in common, the stories that stuck out to him the most, what compelled him to bike 5,000 miles from California to Florida to New York, and the lessons he learned along the way. Most importantly, he shows us through these stories of hope, triumph and resilience, how to be there for people in our own lives. To find out more about David or to purchase his book, go to david-richman.com .
