About the Episode:
After working years and years to craft a novel ready to be shared with the world, Kevin King was acquired by a small Christian publisher right before the pandemic hit. Unfortunately for Kevin’s publishing dreams, what would unfold was a 3-year struggle to get information about the progress of his book or the support he expected to receive from a publisher. He shares his story today, not to bash the publisher or to vent, but to share the lessons he learned through the experience and offer advice to those writers just starting this journey. In addition to sharing his journey, Kevin and Rachel talk about the unique challenges of pitching to publishers, marketing fantasy that is more akin to old-school vs modern-day fantasy, and starting the next project after navigating such a difficult road.
