In this season of pain, grief and mourning that we are in, we must pause and ask ourselves: What would Jesus call this? What is the prophetic picture behind our tears and suffering? What is the purpose? Because with God, no pain is wasted. We may be wrestling with thoughts like, “If we prayed and fasted, then why did this happen?”. But even in our questioning, God chooses to reveal His Sovereignty not by giving us answers, but by reminding us that He is God. His Sovereignty means He is not obligated to explain Himself. It’s not about how much we prayed or fervently fasted: it’s about the depth of his will and trusting that God is still in control, even when we don’t understand His ways. His will is not dependent on our approval or understanding. He moves according to His purpose, not our permission. What feels like pain to us may, in God’s eyes, be producing something eternal.
