Listen "The Waterfront Architect of New York"
Episode Synopsis
Meet Dena Prastos, an Architect and Civil Engineer who was raised in Anchorage, Alaska, and has a deep-rooted appreciation for nature and mankind's ability to design, build, and create infrastructure in some of the world's toughest conditions.
Dena has led projects around the world conducting heavy civil construction, marine engineering, and waterfront architecture. Dena's unique experiences helped shape her vision, competency, and progressive views to ultimately launch her firm, Indigo River.
In this episode we discuss profitability, working in waterfront infrastructure, and building a company which offers specialist services. We discuss the culture change that is needed to support females in the profession and how Dena is making waves in the waterfront sector in New York.
Dena is the founder and CEO of Indigo River, which specialises in resiliency consulting with a specific focus on the waterfront, flood-prone areas, and progressive responses to sea level rise. Dena completed a 5-year Bachelor of Architecture program at New Jersey Institute of Technology, and a graduate degree in civil engineering. After gaining valuable experience in the industry, Dena completed Harvard Business School's Leading Professional Executive Education program.
Dena resides in the New York metro area with her husband, Nick, where they enjoy restoring their 160-year-old riverfront home, playing tennis, and sailing the Hudson.
