Yes, he’s still finding ways to zap himself to our park bench here in Japan, probably to avoid the overcrowding of his ranch because of his virile chickens, but whatever the reason, The Godfather of Grunge and the Mistress of Soul, Canada’s own Neil Tortilla Young, is back and this time he’s for freedom, and he’s even writing a song about it!
Yup, you’ll get a brief preview of this outstanding number, which, well, you may recognize. After I briefly touch bases with our old pal, we decide to bust out my old Rolodex and get some of the truckers I used to help represent with their legal troubles on the park bench to talk about their takes on what their brethren north of the border are up to.
We cover a lot of ground here, including my mental health challenges (cyclothymia?); why truck cabs are so high up and whether that makes truckers feel superior to the rest of us, why Justin Trudeau’ sayin’ he’s heard the truckers and the protesters is nonsense, Neil’s fetish with acronyms and the latest superpower the vaccine has given him, my astrological take on what’s going on and a personal story as to why I started to buy into astrology a few years ago which relates to the US Pluto Return, a theory as to why the Grateful Dead stopped touring in the mid 1970s that very well could be misinformation but is a tragedy regardless and so much more.
I really don’t know that we made any progress in our sensemaking of this rather large topic but, hey, if nothing else it’s always an adventure yakking with Neil and it’s never a bad thing to get some new voices on the podcast, as well.
So strap in, get your horns ready, and let’s honk our way down the metaphorical highway, or, as Neil would put it, the M.H., as we listen to these three men chat with yours truly about these historic events.
