Episode Synopsis

They wet the bed, pull their hair, have obsessive-compulsive or repetitive behaviors, motor, and verbal tics, maybe they even rage inexplicably. She was thrust into the public role following the publication of her memoir 'Saving Sammy.' Her son, Sammy, suffered severe mental illness as a result of an undiagnosed strep infection. He fully recovered with appropriate treatment for the infection. His disorder was first propelled to recognition when she and Sammy appeared together on The Today Show. Seeking to further empower parents, she wrote 'Childhood Interrupted.' It is the one and only resource guide about the disorder. In 2015, she was named by the Wall Street Journal in “5 Things to Know About PANS.” She also championed the 2016 documentary My Kid Is Not Crazy.
