In this episode, we interview Erin Klein Carlson, a respiratory therapist, about the basics of pulmonary function testing. We discuss the reasons for ordering a pulmonary function test, the types of patients that may not be suitable for testing, and the different types of lung function tests available. We also explore the interpretation of flow loops and the importance of z-scores, race and how to approach transgender patients and the challenges of interpreting lung function in this population.
