Dr. Hart is the Department Vice Chair and Professor of Population Health and Reproduction at UC Davis's School of Veterinary Medicine. Her research focuses on human - morethanhuman-animal interactions, animal behaviour, and welfare. She is also one of the founders of the field of anthrozoology and the International Society for Anthrozoology (ISAZ); as well as the recipient of the ISAZ Distinguished Anthrozoologist award for outstanding lifetime achievement.
