The pandemic of 2020 abruptly halted events across the globe, including Broadway. Matty Oaks-Dougherty felt the challenges first hand. He was no longer able to work as a Broadway dancer and there was no sight of when his career would resume. During that time he began studies through AAPC's distance learning program, preparing him for the CPC exam. Shortly after passing the exam he began his first job working for a healthcare system.
