I lay awake, staring at the off white ceiling. My breaths slow and deep. Sleep never came easy to me. I roll over and look over at the small digital clock that sits on my best side table.

"2:45am."

And before I can even start thinking about how early it is I see a light turn on down the hall. The floorboards creak lightly, a sound of tiny footsteps.

"Mumma?"

"What's wrong Max?" I whisper quietly.

"I had a nightmare. It was really scary." He sniffs.

"Come sit with me, tell me what happened."

Max grabs the sheets and pulls himself up onto the bed.

"Well, I was just standing in this room when all of a sudden this other kid was in front of me. He was calling for help saying he needed to be saved. When I tried to help him, I couldn't, there was some barrier blocking me and then. And then. Something started to hurt him and he started screaming and I couldn't help him and then the life went away from his eyes." he sobs
