Listen "Chrome OS Flex can make older computers useful for free"
Episode Synopsis
Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear. I’m Fred Fishkin. With a little help from Google…you can take an older PC or Mac and extend its useful life by turning it, essentially, into a Chromebook. And it is free. Just search for Chrome OS Flex to get started…and product manager Forrest Smith says...
“We’ll walk you through this. And it starts by having a USB stick that you can use for this process. It needs to be eight gigabytes or larger and you use a Google Chrome extension called the Chromebook recovery utility and you select Chrome OS Flex as the image you want to put on that USB stick. And you get guided through that process.”
It should work with most computers even those a decade old…or even a bit more. You may surprised and how much you can do…and you won’t need to worry about security or updates. That’s all taken care of automatically. Again…just search for Chrome OS Flex.
