Listen "Computational Thinking: It's Not Always About Computers"
Episode Synopsis
In this episode, MLTI (Maine Learning Technology Initiative) Ambassadors Chris Beckwith, AJ Rog, and Jeff Ireland answer the question, “What is computational thinking?” AJ interviews Sean Wasson, who is the CSTA (Computer Science Teachers Association) President and a computer science teacher at Lyman Moore Middle School in Portland, Maine who helps the Ambassadors demystify computational thinking and how the process extends beyond the realm of computer science. The group returns after the interview to discuss more applications of computational thinking in multiple classroom settings along with exploring unplugged applications of computational thinking. We’d also like to announce this year's MLTI Student Conferences. We will be hosting two student conferences again this year, one virtual and one in person. The virtual conference will be on March 7th and the in-person conference will be on May 23rd. You can go to our website at www.maine.gov/doe/learning/ltt/conference for more details. You can also contact the MLTI (Maine Learning Technology Initiative) and LTT (Learning Through Technology) teams at the Maine Department of Education by emailing us at: [email protected].
