Storytelling is a critical element of who we are as a species. It’s how we relate to the world – to our place in it, to our worth and value, and to others. Good storytelling is a marrow of the bones sort of thing, and Catherine Connors is a master storyteller. She also is uniquely positioned to understand the true craft of story and specifically how that relates to the role of story in leadership. She was a career academic whose path wended its way into media by way of getting hired as Editor in Chief of Babble. When Disney acquired Babble she then became Head of Content and Editor in Chief of Disney Interactive. Wielding her considerable storytelling acumen combined with her deep bench of knowledge on the power of women and women’s stories, she led the charge to what would become a whole-cloth shift in the way Disney imagined its Princess franchise. No small feat. She speaks of story as a foundational element of her life, and that her first real experience of how stories can heal came from her childhood cat, Pansy.
