Listen "Episode 22 - Overcoming Raag Dwesh with Maitri Karuna Mudita Upeksha"
Episode Synopsis
Raag Dwesh are two of the 5 kleshas enumerated by Maharshi Patanjali in his Yog Sutras. Klesha means coloured thoughts which inhibit our ability to see things as they are. Raag is attachment or addiction to mental impressions or objects and dwesh is aversion to thought patterns or objects
In relationships, the mind becomes purified (kleshas are lessened) by cultivating feelings of friendliness towards those who are happy (maitri), compassion (karuna) for those who are suffering, goodwill (mudita) towards those who are virtuous, and indifference (upeksha) or neutrality towards those we perceive as wicked or evil.
The podcast discusses these concepts.
