This morning we are returning to our study in the book of Proverbs, on practical wisdom for everyday living. If you recall when we began the study I shared with you that Solomon is credited with writing the book of Proverbs, one of the 5 books that make up the Poetic Books in the Old Testament. The 5 poetic books are: 1. Job2. Psalms3. Proverbs4. Ecclesiastes 5. Song of SolomonSolomon wrote, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and the Song of Solomon. 1 Kings 4:32 tells us that King Solomon, the son of King David spoke 3000 Proverbs. Solomon spoke 3000 proverbs and 1005 songs. You might say Solomon was the Barry Manilow of the Old Testament in that he wrote the songs… A Proverb by definition means, Proverbs comes from the Latin word Proverbium “PRO”-‘on behalf of’, ‘in place of another’ Verba, ‘words’, ‘instead of words’
