Listen "Happy Gut Foods: An interview with Traniece Lewis"
Episode Synopsis
Today, I will be introducing you to Traniece Lewis, the CEO of Happy Gut Foods. Happy Gut foods is a San Antonio food company that uses the ancient art of fermentation to preserve and transform food. They create small batches and use local, organic, clean ingredients. I brought Traniece on the show to share how she got started with Happy Gut Foods and What Happy Gut Foods can do for you.
Fermented foods are Kefir, Kimchi, Yogurt, Kombucha, Pickles, Sauerkraut, Sourdough bread, Miso, Tempeh, Raw Cheese, Apple Cider Vinegar, Kvass, Natto.
According to Health Benefits of Fermented Foods, a Pubmed research study, microorganisms contributing to the fermentation process have recently been associated with many health benefits, and so these microorganisms have become another focus of attention. During fermentation, these bacteria synthesize vitamins and minerals, produce biologically active peptides with enzymes and remove some non-nutrients. Compounds known as biologically active peptides, which are produced by the bacteria responsible for fermentation, are also well known for their health benefits. Among these peptides, have a blood pressure lowering effect while I can go on and before I bore you… As a result, fermented foods provide many health benefits such as anti-oxidant, anti-microbial, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic and anti-atherosclerotic activity.
