Listen "Beware the TikTok Ban | tips to save your community from dying platforms"

Episode Synopsis

TikTok is in the news, and it looks like, for Americans at least, it may be going away.

The cliche remains true: social media IS rented land. Platforms come and go for a variety of reasons. Sometimes you may lose access to your account for a variety of reasons. So how can you manage risk for your content creation?

The good news is that (unless you've been hired by someone or otherwise signed away your rights) your copyright remains your own. You can reuse, repurpose and re-upload your content to other places where it makes sense to do so. (Though how you have created your videos will have some implications for this.)

Let's talk about!

What happens when platforms go away?
What is the shelf life of your content? Is it perennial or timely?
Do you own all the relevant rights to repurpose it/re-upload it? (Music and other licensing considerations)
Can you re-create it as necessary?
