Episode Synopsis

Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant has requested a trade from the Brooklyn Nets, sources tell The Athletic. The 33-year-old forward, who just completed his third year with the Nets, is under contract through the 2025-26 season after signing a four-year, $198 million extension in 2021. The former league MVP (2014) averaged 29.9 points and 7.4 rebounds per game last season. Durant's request comes hours before the start of free agency and three days after teammate Kyrie Irving opted into his player option for the 2022-23 season. Durant was monitoring the organization's situation prior to Irving's opt-in, sources previously said.  Minnesota is receiving one of the best defenders in the NBA. Gobert is a three-time Kia Defensive Player of the Year and has been a First Team All-Defensive selection for six straight seasons. He’s made the All-Star Game in three consecutive seasons with averages of 15 points and 13.9 rebounds per game. He leaves a Jazz team that has loaded up on a slew of future assets since the start of free agency. Utah acquired a 2023 first-round pick from the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday in exchange for Royce O’Neale.  Although negotiations between the Lakers and Nets have seemingly stalled as a third team such as the Spurs might need to get involved, all rumors coming out still point towards Kyrie eventually joining LeBron James and Anthony Davis with the Lakers.
