She was in a lot of pain and tried to free herself.Children, can you suggest how the Fox could free herself?Great! She began to forcefully pull her tail. After a lot of painful tugging, she finally freed herself from the trap. But she had to leave her beautiful bushy tail behind. Now she was left with only a small portion of the tail as most of the tail was stuck in the trap. This made her very sad.For a long time, she kept away from the other foxes, for she knew well enough that they would all make fun of her and crack jokes and laugh behind her back. But it was hard for her to live alone, and at last, she thought of a plan that would perhaps help her out of her trouble.Children, do you remember any other story where foxes have made cunning plans? Ya! The sour grapes. The Fox and the crow. So, the Fox without a tail thought of a plan. She called a meeting of all the foxes, saying that she had something of great importance to tell the tribe. When they were all gathered together, the Fox without a tail got up and made a long speech about those Foxes who had been harmed because of their tails. She reminded all the others about their many fox friends that had been harmed. She sadly said, “ Remember, one of our fox friends had been caught by hounds when his tail had become entangled in the hedge. That one had not been able to run fast enough because of the weight of his bushy tail.” “Besides, it is well known,” she continued, “that men hunt foxes simply for their tails, which they cut off as prizes of the hunt. With such proof of the danger, I suggest that it’s useless to have a tail!”She further proposed, “I advise every fox to cut off their tails, for the safety of their own life.”.When she had finished talking, an old fox arose, and said, smilingly, “Master Fox, kindly turn around for a moment, and you shall have your answer."When the poor Fox Without a Tail turned around, there arose such a storm of jeers and hooting. They all now knew that the fox without a tail didn’t have her tail and so wanted others to cut if off too. She saw how useless it was to try any longer to persuade the Foxes to part with their tails. With her head hung, she walked away deep into the forest. This story teaches us that we cannot always fool people. The fox was trying to fool his friends but that did not happen. Now, it’s your turn.
