In the late '50s, Toho and ABC were planning a co-production meant for release on American television. The deal ultimately fell through, but the film was made anyway. The product of this mess was Diakaiju Varan, known as Varan, The Unbelievable here in the States. Did the chaotic production lead to a bad movie, or was a masterpiece born from anarchy?
