STI Research Roundup (STIRR)

STI Research Roundup (STIRR)

Por: Dawne DiOrio
This podcast is made for with those doing the day-to-day work with people experiencing sexually transmitted infections (STI), including HIV. Actively engaging with the science of research may not resonate with many disease intervention professionals who may just be too busy to take time out of the workday to sit down in a quiet space and read a research article, who may have difficulty digesting the important points being made by a research article, who may lack access to a database of peer-reviewed journals, and who may wonder how a given article applies to their work. The goal of this podcast is to present one or two studies in each episode in such a way that the STI professional and those interested in learning more about STI research can easily engage with the content in order to increase scientific literacy around sexually transmitted infections. While this podcast is aimed at an audience of STI professionals in the United States such as Disease Intervention Specialists (DIS), community organization workers, outreach workers, family planning, and sexually transmitted disease (STD) clinic staff, I hope it will be useful for others who are partners in the effort to reduce STI around the world.
