Episode Synopsis "Stay Wild Ep. #35: Emily McDowell"
Hey little humans, I’m Norma Jean and Welcome to Stay Wild, the podcast about to kep your quirks in the wonderous world! This is episode #35 with today’s guest, Emily McDowell. Emily is the founder of Emily McDowell Studios, a greeting card company that spoke to a truth about relationships in a way that wasn't yet represented in Greeting Card World. They are called empathy cards, which was borne out of an experience she had in the past. Emily was diagnosed with cancer and that was when she felt like she really couldn't connect with people, and it was difficult for others around her to actually say what they wanted to say. As humans living in this fast-paced digital world, it has become a challenge for us to connect - we've been so accustomed to "minding our own business" and setting boundaries that it has become difficult for us to say exactly how we feel, and we've left that job with greeting card companies. Then again, these cards don't really reflect what's happening and how we're feeling. Template messages just don't cut it anymore. Emily has found success in her designs, basically because they are so relatable and raw.
