KEY TAKEAWAYS
I’ve been in marketing for over 20 years and about 10 years ago I started my own agency and it’s only been in the last few years where I’ve started to integrate my own personal passion for growth and wellness into the business of marketing. Now, our agency truly specialises in working with brands who make an impact in the world with relation to food and wellness. Through this work we’re really able to help the people that are helping people to market their services, broaden their voice, acquire new clients and keep those clients for longer so they’re making a deeper and more sustained impact.
I have two favourite categories of clients (don’t tell my other clients that!), on one hand we’re working with physicians in the practical medical space. These are doctors that are really working to identify a root cause inside someone – not just treating their symptom with a pill, but working on healing their system so that they are able to move forward in the world without pain, with relief from symptoms, in a more sustainable way that doesn’t involve short term fixes of pill after pill and side-effect after side-effect. Helping those physicians gain more patients and keep those patients longer has been really satisfying and impactful for them and meaningful for us. Also, we’ve been doing a lot of work with brands that are helping children understand how to make mindful choice about what they eat, building habits of choosing a healthy choice over a junk food choice when they’re young, and their brains are still shape-able so that when they get older they’ll be feeding themselves with things that are really fuelling their bodies and not allow them to over consume and suffer the effects of that.
Change is cyclical, not linear. We live in a world where there’s a before and an after and people have this instant gratification mindset, they think “I’m going to buy/invest my time in this thing and then I’m going to instantly be different and reach that ‘after’ which is what I think I want”. But, really what happens in order to make that transformation, there’s a number of starts and stops, a few steps forwards and a few steps back, and the before and after pictures never show that process. What we’re saying, as communications experts to our clients is: When you can reconnect with people when they’re starting and stopping, that’s where you have an ongoing impact with people.
One of the tools we like to introduce for our clients, certainly consultants and coaches and anyone in the service industry for the service of other people and their transformation, is this concept of a road map. When you have a new client, it’s important to manage their expectations up front, and perhaps that expectation can be in the form of a visual map. In functional medicine, quite often, there are ‘stages to change’,  stage 1 is discovery, stage 2 is healing, stage 3 is a maintenance stage. If someone can start the new relationship understanding that path they’re less likely to feel lost in the process and less likely to drop off. By explaining your process in a visual and presenting the person with metrics along the way it shows them the quick wins on the path and they’re more likely to keep going.

BEST MOMENTS
‘We’re not addiction specialists, we’re not here to create behavioural change, this is what our clients are doing. We’re observing our clients in their work and helping them use communication to better express the benefits of the change and keep that change going with the people that they’re serving. We’re communications specialists.’ ‘We help our clients widen their audience and communicate with those people in a way that connects with their mindset. Sometimes a little shift in perceptions can be life changing.’‘When consumers understand that change is cyclical, they can go into it with the mindset of an experiment, not necessarily “I’m going to start this and ultimately I fail because I quit”. It’s that perception of failure I think that holds people back from the ultimate transformation.’‘I had an epiphany recently because I’ve been agitated a lot and that’s not like me, I’m a pretty chill person. But, I’ve noticed that it’s been in direct relationship with my numbers and the financial goals that I’m setting for the business and my ability and inability to hit those goals with my team. My coach asked me how I’d show up to the world if I wasn’t constantly thinking about these numbers and how they drive my mindset, and I didn’t have an answer for that, that's all I know. I meditated on it and what I came back with was a new framework for how I measure success in my mind. I’ve always looked at success as making money/growing my team, but I shifted how I define success to how I allocate my time over the next 15 years. I want to spend more time on speaking at events and on podcasts and less time on my business and the monetary goals will support how I spend my time on things that excite me.’

ABOUT THE HOST
Gavin Scott is a born entrepreneur with a passion for start up and scale up. He has over 20 years real estate experience in investment and development.
Gavin says: Over the years I have discovered that mindset is everything. Now, that might sound obvious, but it is! You see the number of awoken minds are very few in reality. Whilst acknowledging mindset is key it is absolutely different from utilising, influencing, impacting and effecting great change, for yourself, your loved ones, friends, colleagues and the wider public.
Why?
Like most of us I have had many ups and downs. I want to share the lessons learnt and promote a better environment for all, internally and externally!
How?
Through sharing my own experiences and hosting some fabulous individuals including some big household names to discuss key topics around mindset and the success formulas I hope the listener will become inspired to create space for change for betterment in their lives. I aim to inspire change by encouragement, not by force. I intend to inspire by education, not by regulation.
