Listen "Big Fish Little Fish"
Episode Synopsis
In this episode of the podcast Gavin talks about an experience he had recently of swimming in a pool that he was sharing with a couple of other people, some of whom were not adhering to the rules of the pool and how he turned frustration into joy by being aware of both his feelings and those of the people around him.

KEY TAKEAWAYS
A child started swimming across the lanes down which us three swimmers were doing lengths. Eventually he did start doing lengths, but he was bobbing up and down for breath and swam across out paths and that frustrated me, because I was distracted I couldn’t dedicate 100% to my practice.
I thought, this kid needs to be encourage, and his skills need to be nurtured if he wants to be a swimmer. I got a float and went back to the pool and told him he was doing really great, which seemed to surprise him. I gave him the float and told him to put it between his legs and try the front crawl, which he does and begins to swim better and faster.
What was that little fish doing in the big fish’s world? The big fish didn’t want the little fish in his world, but he came to realise he needed the small fish in his world. A small fish can never become a big fish and lead, and impact change, unless encouraged and nurtured. It’s such an important time where one interaction can impact a child’s later life.
It’s really important for us as a society, a community, a business, whatever your area of leadership is, to empower and enable those in the food chain below you. It’s almost your responsibility and duty to do so. In this way we can impact and create the world that we want to live in.
BEST MOMENTS
‘I wasn’t listening to music and ended up listening to my inner voice and perhaps my head wasn’t in the right mindset.’
‘He didn’t like the idea that he wasn’t in control, with this float rocking him around.’
‘I love swimming, it’s a great sport that you can do anywhere; in a river, a lake or a pool.’
‘We need to become more aware of our surroundings.’
ABOUT THE HOST
Gavin Scott is a born entrepreneur with a passion for start up and scale up. He has over 20 years real estate experience in investment and development.
Gavin says: Over the years I have discovered that mindset is everything. Now, that might sound obvious, but it is! You see the number of awoken minds are very few in reality. Whilst acknowledging mindset is key it is absolutely different from utilising, influencing, impacting and effecting great change, for yourself, your loved ones, friends, colleagues and the wider public.
Why?
Like most of us I have had many ups and downs. I want to share the lessons learnt and promote a better environment for all, internally and externally!
How?
Through sharing my own experiences and hosting some fabulous individuals including some big household names to discuss key topics around mindset and the success formulas I hope the listener will become inspired to create space for change for betterment in their lives. I aim to inspire change by encouragement, not by force. I intend to inspire by education, not by regulation.
