In August 2017, ESPN pulled a young broadcaster off of a Univ. Virginia football game because his name was Robert Lee, bearing resemblance to "Robert E. Lee," whose statue lead to a violent riot in Charlottesville, Virginia. Janib Abreu Ihaia is an accomplished TV broadcaster who has worked in Denver, New York, and Miami. In 1999, she was offered a job at WABC/Eyewitness News in New York, provided she change her 1st name to "Jan" to be "less ethnic." Janib breaks her silence on this subject in a candid interview.
