My first impression of this prompt was to make a sort of exquisite corpse composition, random elements somehow fitted together. I sort of followed through on that starting with a recent piano jam accompanying a sequence created with the Step Poly Arp App on my IPAD. I love this app, so much control especially with the recent update. Arpeggiation is so cool, time to start using more of them in my music for sure.
After laying that into Ableton i added random elements form another piano jam, some very old samples of Emax SE synthesis, field recording I made of CSO tuning up, modular synth recordings, and some processed voice files. I placed these somewhat randomly but nudged a few here and there plus added some effects and spatial placement. Not elements I would have normally chosen to try to fit together.

The Assignment: Treat a set of sounds like a game of pick up sticks.

Step 1: Think about pick up sticks, the children’s game.

Step 2: Assemble a small collection of sounds.

Step 3: Record a piece of music in which you employ the sounds from Step 2 as if in a game of pick up sticks.
